Lead singer and guitarist Michael Brown was flown in from Adelaide, Australia to accept the award on behalf of the band. The news of Tracer’s win as "Best New Band" follows the news of their forthcoming April 2013 UK tour.
"I’m absolutely stoked about winning the Classic Rock Award for Best New Band," says Brown. "It still blows my mind that we are creating and playing music we love and people are responding to it and we’re getting awards for it!"
Tracer start recording their second album with producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Silverchair, Cold Chisel), at his studio in Malibu later this month. The album will be released by Mascot Records in March 2013, and will dovetail their UK tour in April.
In 2011, Tracer came to prominence in the UK when they released their debut album Spaces In Between, which spawned three radio singles on Planet Rock, including the song Too Much. The band includes Michael Brown (guitar, vocals), Andre Wise (drums), and Pat Saracino (bass). They’ve received praise from UK rock magazines including Classic Rock (New Band of the Month), Total Guitar, Metal Hammer, and Guitarist. Their promo video for the Too Much single has amassed 100,000 YouTube hits.
